How SuperBooks Work in the Classroom |
| Kindergarten & First Grade |
In SuperBooks Kit 1 there are 200 books (5 copies of 40 stories) and 40 three page lesson plans. 5 copies of each book provide for small group instruction.

The SuperBooks Teacher’s Manual contains 3 lesson plans:
- for independent reading
- for comprehension
- Directed reading refer to T.M. pages 7-10
The directed reading lesson provides teachers with specific directions for teaching phonics skills, word patterns, how to introduce the story and how to guide the reading.
As listed above, each Super book has a 3 part lesson plan to meet individual needs and to make teaching easier.

| First Grade Through Third Grade |
Because children progress in reading at different rates, SuperBooks are not strictly grade-leveled. SuperBooks Kit 2 continues introducing new skills and reviewing skills introduced in Kit 1. (Refer to Scope & Sequence Chart for lists of skills.)
Example:
Kit 2, Book 1 Up and Down letter/ sounds w, ow, wa, aw;
review of short vowels and consonants and ar, er, ed.
The SuperBooks Teacher’s manual for Kit 2 also contains 3 lesson plans.
*An important feature of each Super book is the Word List in the inside back cover which can be used as a review of vocabulary and also as a spelling list. |

How SuperBooks Work For Home and Home School |
Take-Home Stories accompany each SuperBook and provide a 4-page version of the 8 page Super book on one sheet which can be folded and made into a little book.

Complete SuperBooks Kits should be used in Home-School programs where there are 3-5 students reading at the same grade level. Parents and grandparents using SuperBooks with individual students should use Super Story Pacs 1 and 2. The Scope and Sequence Chart of Skills is also used as a guideline for phonics instruction, reading and spelling.
The Teacher’s Manuals are written in a form that can easily be used by parents and para-professionals. |
